The Tournament

Over 100 teams will compete during the Amsterdam Rugby Sevens tournament on 30st & 31nd of May 2020. The Men compete in the ‘Silver Pier’ competition, ‘The Shield’ competition and ‘The Cup’ competition. The women will compete for the ‘W Silver Pier’ and ‘W Shield’  competition and the Men & Women Veterans will be competing in their own 10-a-side tournament.

Top players from around the world have earmarked Amsterdam in last weekend of May as the place to be, during the 49th edition of the Amsterdam Rugby 7s tournament. Throughout the sports park, in the grandstands and on the festival square, the relaxed atmosphere mingles with the determination of elite rugby. Exuberant, buoyant and welcoming.  free parking and children under 15 get in for free.

The Amsterdam Rugby Club (known as AAC) has been organizing what is today affectionally  known as The Amsterdam Sevens since 1972. The teams consist of Internationals from both club professionals and young up and coming talent. Also several side events are held on the 29th of May: Project Turn-Over and the Dutch Rugby academies.

Despite all the action on the field, we strongly promote the social aspect of the tournament. We highly value all the intriguing stories behind the competing teams, and are very proud that every year players and spectators alike consistently meet up with old friends but continue to make new acquaintances and friends, at The Amsterdam Sevens.

Our famous hospitality area which hosts great eating experiences, funky tunes, good food and of course fantastic Dutch beer, is where all this action and fun takes place. Every year there is a fancy dress theme. So keep an eye on the social media posts and brin your best outfit to Amsterdam!

For the Amsterdam 7s Rugby Tournament, we use every available square meter of the Sportpark de Eendracht, home to the Amsterdam Rugby Club (AAC) as well as the National Dutch team with its great artificial playing surface, perfect for open 7’s.

To ensure that the Amsterdam 7 runs as smoothly and safely as possible for each player, visitor and local residents, a number of house rules en competition regulations have been drawn up.
